Patient Engagement

Today, a primary focus of healthcare facilities is patient satisfaction and engagement. Helping patients feel comfortable and more at home can be a daunting task for any hospital, but a task that has proven to be worth the investment. The patient television is an undervalued piece of this puzzle. Often restricted to bed, patients spend much of their time sleeping or watching television. Why not use the TV as a teaching device, marketing vehicle or source of entertainment? To stay ahead, facilities need to offer more than just cable TV. Integrating HCI’s latest product, CareTV, can help your facility do that and more.

CareTV, built into the HUB, is our latest patient engagement solution. CareTV is a suite of purpose-built Android apps that provide patient education, care plans, movies, music, relaxation, etc. Through extensive research and real-world experience, we’ve built a solution that exceeds expectations. Running on the Android OS, CareTV allows each facility to craft a robust, custom, and flexible solution that meets its own ever-changing needs.

With Android, you open the door to be able to access endless third-party apps. Just like your cell phone, you can download almost any app to our system. You can provide the patient with access to the following applications right from the television in their hospital bed:

  • Internet
  • Netflix, Hulu, etc.
  • Games
  • social media platforms
  • email,
  • music and movies on demands
  • and so much more

In a recent case study at a 220-bed hospital in Florida, we analyzed their App usage. Over a 90-day period, patients viewed the Netflix app over 7,900 times, Movies over 9,000 times, and more than 4,000 patient education videos. This hospital also showed a rise in their HCAHPS scores as well. This is just one example of how one app can increase the outcomes you are looking for. Imagine if you open the services to other Android apps?

In addition to apps, CareTV also leverages the capabilities of the context row. The context row allows apps to give the patient suggestions, alerts and shortcuts to content based on their interests. Facilities can access this tool by providing the patient a welcome video or displaying prescribed content. If desired, this content can be displayed in this row until the patient viewed it completely. Below is a sample of what your CareTV could look like.
