Integration is the act of combining several things, so they become a whole. This is how MediaCare works, combining RTLS, EMR, and Nurse Call systems to create one singular system. This system communicates with different devices in a patient’s room. The Interactive Whiteboard is one of these devices and can immediately update a patient or staff about important information. Without having to be manually updated, the staff can focus on the patient more. Which we can all agree is the most important person in the room.
With the aid of these different elements (EMR, RTLS, Nurse Call), the whiteboard can inform a patient and their family which staff member has walked into the room. Because of this, a list of the current care team will be visible. This includes those who are going to visit and those who already have. Meanwhile, the nurse that just approached quickly glance at the board to look at any important protocols they need to know. These protocols may include allergies, eating preferences, fall risks, and mobility information. Therefore it allows the nurse to know immediately what to expect and communicate with the patient.
Not only can the whiteboard display information that is key to a satisfied patient, but it can also be edited through MediaCare. Each whiteboard can be customized to fit specific needs. Modules are fixed onto the screen, including daily and discharge goals, notes, contact information, and next doses. The board can be manually updated in the room as well.
No matter what the screen may look like, the whiteboard will always have full communication with systems already in place in your facility. A fully integrated patient room is a must-have. Ultimately, patients need the reassurance and staff need the information.
